Milan Koničný, Professor of Geography, Mazarik University, Czech, to give a lecture on Digital Earth: Cartography, GIS and Emergency Response for Disaster Reduction
On the afternoon of April 28, Milan Končný, Professor of Geography Department of Mazarik University, Czech, came to our school to give a lecture on Digital Earth: Cartography, GIS and Emergency Response for Disaster Reduction. This lecture is a series of lectures entitled Great Skills · Light of Wisdom organized by the School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication (General Education Center).
Professor Milan Konončný is Chairman of the Professional Committee for Crisis Management and Early Warning Mapping of the International Cartographic Association, Vice Chairman of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), and President of the European Region of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences (IEAS). At home, he was often affectionately referred to as Professor Milan.
In this lecture, Professor Milan gave the audience an insight into the emerging trends in the field of cartography and GIS, as well as their applications in the modern world. Combining the latest digital earth technology, the lecture explores the latest advances and innovations in disaster risk management and emergency response in these areas. The lecture also explored the impact of digital transformation across the globe and how advanced technologies can be used to enhance our geospatial knowledge and disaster management capabilities. Through this series of discussions, Professor Milan leads the audience in looking ahead to the vast future of the digital Earth and its potential to address global challenges.
At the end of the lecture, the students from Shanghai Second Polytechnic University raised questions to Professor Milan in English and had an enthusiastic exchange, and Professor Milan gave a patient, meticulous and enlightening reply.
