A number of colleges and universities gather to talk to foreign language talents for high-quality employment

    To further implement the Reform Plan for the Adjustment and Optimization of Disciplines and Specialties in General Higher Education, accelerate the construction of new liberal arts, focus on high-quality and full employment of foreign language talents in colleges and universities, and actively explore new ways to cultivate talents, On May 10, the 2024 Seminar on High-quality Employment and Student  Work in the New Era was held at Shanghai Second Polytechnic University. Students and employment counselors from 24 foreign language colleges of universities from 10 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities including Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shandong, Shanghai, Sichuan, Tianjin and Zhejiang attended the conference. The symposium was co-organized by Shanghai Second Polytechnic University and Shanghai Foreign Languages Society.

    In a speech at that conference, Wu Peidong, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the Shanghai second technical university, said that he would speed up the construction of the Chinese discourse and the Chinese narrative system, tell the Chinese story and spread the Chinese voice. It is of great significance to explore the new ideas and methods of students' work in the new era of Foreign Language Institute and to promote high-quality and full employment of students under the new theme of presenting a credible, lovable and honorable image of China. It is hoped that this seminar will enhance the exchange and cooperation between brother colleges and universities in China, actively explore the collaborative employment service mechanism for students, and strengthen the circle of friends of employment services for foreign language talents. Through the exchange of resources sharing and quality improvement, we should build a community of teaching and employment services for foreign language talents.

    In that keynote report session, Chen Zhiwen, editor-in-chief of China Education Online, delivered a report titled Educational Thinking Behind the Popularization of Higher Education and Employment of College Students. Ding Jieyi, General Manager of iFlytek (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a speech entitled Practice and Thoughts on AI Enabling Higher Education Innovation and Talent Training; Professor Peng Qinglong, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Foreign Languages Society, delivered a report titled The Predicament and Outlet of Foreign Language and Literature in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.

    In the sub-forums, participants exchanged ideas and ideas on such topics as Party building + driving the Party building to empower students and giving internship and employment, and practical exploration of employment guidance for counselors. In-depth discussion on how to improve the quality of student employment, innovation of student work mode, and further strengthen the cooperation between school and enterprise.
