    National English Competition for College Students, Neccs is co-sponsored by the Foreign Language Teaching Research Association of Colleges and Universities and the National Foreign Language Teaching and Research Cooperation Group of Teachers Colleges and Universities. A contest for college students' comprehensive ability in English organized by English counseling newspaper and Test and Evaluation Magazine. The National College Students English Competition (NECCS) is a large-scale national competition of college students' comprehensive English ability in China. It mainly includes the basic knowledge of English and the skills of reading, listening, speaking, writing and translating, especially the comprehensive ability of using English. After fierce competition and fair selection, the translation of Zhang, a graduate student of the Institute, performed well and won the first prize of Class A.

About the contestants

    Zhang Yiwen,  English translation major. He has won the CET4 and CET6 certificate and the first prize of the National College Students English Competition (Category C) in 2017.

Preparation Experience

    For the national college students English competition, because I have had the experience of competition in the undergraduate, so since the admission of graduate students, has been more concerned about the competition. There is little difference among the four types of test questions of A, B, C and D, the main difficulty is that the test time is short but the quantity of test questions is large, and there are many test questions, so it is very important to prepare before the test. First of all, to do a few sets of real questions over the years, control time to grasp the rhythm of doing questions, and then according to the answer situation, not good at their own questions for targeted training. The written part of the semi-finals and the preliminary competitions is not much different, but the oral test needs to organize the language well in advance according to the real questions in previous years to correct the problems in pronunciation.

In general, the National College Students English Contest is a good opportunity to improve their English, and the teachers are keen to provide us with help and guidance during the preparation period. Hope that in the future more students will actively participate and enjoy the process!
