The Party Committee of the School of Foreign Language and Culture Communication Held 2024 Democratic Life Meeting for Party Leaders and Special Democratic Life Meeting on Inspection and Rectification

    On the morning of February 28, the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Language and Culture Communication held the 2024 democratic life meeting for Party members and cadres and the special democratic life meeting on inspection rectification in Conference Room 518 of Building 15. Lu Lei, member of the CPC Committee of the University, and members of the non-Party leadership team attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Gu Xiankai, Party Secretary of the School.

    The Party Committee of the School attached great importance to this democratic life meeting and made full preparations before the meeting. Members of the leadership team studied and discussed in depth Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC and Xi Jinping's latest important statements on education. Consolidate and deepen the achievements of party discipline study and education. At the same time, the Board of Supervisors extensively solicited the opinions and suggestions of teachers and students on the collective, individual and overall development of the leadership team, conducted in-depth talks, comprehensively examined and addressed outstanding issues, and carefully prepared the inspection materials and individual speech outlines of the leadership team. It laid a solid foundation for the high-quality holding of the conference.

    At the meeting, Gu Xiankai first reported the rectification and implementation of the problems found in the democratic life meeting since the study and implementation of Xi Jinping's ideological education on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era and the preparation for this democratic life meeting. Subsequently, on behalf of the Party Committee of the University, The Bank will investigate the existing problems from the following four aspects: Taking the lead in strictly observing political discipline and political rules, enhancing Party spirit and strictly observing discipline and style of work, being bold in innovation while complying with rules and disciplines, and fulfilling the political responsibility of comprehensively and strictly governing the Party. This paper deeply analyzes the root causes of the problems and puts forward specific measures for improving the problems. In the process of criticism and self-criticism, Gu Xiankai took the lead in making a personal comparison check and took the initiative to accept criticism. The Party Committee members shall conduct a comparative inspection one by one, honestly analyze their deficiencies in theoretical study, work style and business ability based on their own work conditions, and put forward feasible rectification plans. The committee members criticized each other, pointed directly to the core of the issue, and put forward constructive opinions and suggestions, thus achieving the effect of red-faced sweating and promoting each other. The non-Party members also took an active part in the work and affirmed the achievements of the leading group, but also pointed out the problems and shortcomings, and provided pertinent suggestions for improvement.

    Lu Lei, the Office of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the University, fully affirmed the meeting. He said that the rectification work of the School was solid and effective, with high political standing, profound analysis of problems, pragmatic criticism and self-criticism, and feasible rectification measures, which fully reflected the unity, cooperation and pragmatic style of the leadership of the School.

    Gu Xiankai, on behalf of the leadership, said that the School would take this democratic life meeting as a new starting point, earnestly implement the spirit of the meeting, closely combine the problem analysis and rectification measures, and make full use of the meeting results. In 2025, we will lead all faculty members of the School to forge ahead with innovation and make new breakthroughs in discipline construction, talent training and faculty building. Contribute to the transformation and development of the School under the new situation.

    Before this democratic life meeting, President Xie Huaqing had a seminar with the members of the  School of Foreign Language and Culture Communication and the faculty, and put forward requirements for the future development of the School. He hoped that the leadership of the School would study the new situation in depth, continuously improve its political position, closely focus on the overall development of the University, pay more attention to the capacity building of the leadership, and take the opportunity of the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan to strengthen the top-level design. We will focus on new ideas and new measures in areas such as optimizing and adjusting disciplines and specialties, expanding the connotation of talent training and innovating models, and stimulating the enthusiasm of faculty and staff officers for entrepreneurship. Trying to find a way to adapt to the new situation and face the new technology.
